Say NO to nuclear power
Say NO to nuclear power
The Prime Minister, John Howard, is scheming up a major expansion of the
nuclear industry in Australia and in June 2006 established a Nuclear
Taskforce to look at the issues.
So far the only nuclear activity ruled out is building nuclear weapons.
Everything else is on the table including:
more uranium mining;
selling uranium to developing countries for new nuclear power;
building domestic nuclear power plants;
enriching uranium in Australia;
reprocessing nuclear materials;
becoming part of a global nuclear fuel leasing consortium; and
hosting an international nuclear waste dump.
While the Prime Minister called for a full-blooded debate unfortunately the
process has been flawed right from the beginning.
Going nuclear is just too risky, too irresponsible, too expensive and can not deliver
a solution to climate change.
The real solution to climate change is energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Going nuclear is not the answer.
Say NO to nuclear power by signing our online petition.
Thank you for demanding a safe, clean renewable energy future.
Sincerely
