Modiin Illit is the fastest-growing settlement in the West Bank and will soon be granted the status of a city. It has a population of more than 30,000 and Israels housing ministry plans that it will grow to 150,000 by 2020. It is typical of the large settlements that successive Israeli governments have considered part of non-negotiable settlement blocs that must be annexed to Israel. And it clearly shows the connection between the construction of the separation wall and the growth of the settlements.
Its expansion has ruined the Palestinian farmers of Bilin, a small village of 1,700 inhabitants. The separation wall being built between Modiin Illit and Bilin swallows half the villages remaining lands, about 450 acres.......
