Architecture is more than beautiful buildings and spaces-the built environment profoundly affects communities and people. This obvious fact is sometimes overlooked in the bustle of every day practice and the lofty rhetoric of design criticism. Bring the practice of architecture back to earth with this eye-opening analysis of how design work affects real people by constructing a matrix of moral tensions that will inform future work and world view.
Learning objectives:
* Discuss whether architecture practice includes a moral dimension beyond obvious matters of business ethics and legal compliance
* Explore the tensions inherent in the moral practice of architecture
* Develop the beginnings of a moral values matrix to inform work and compare to the aggregate view of previous session attendees.
