Sydney: Displaced

Displaced
Two emerging contemporary Sydney documentary photographers, Jacqueline Sherry and Georgina Lampe, explore social and psychological displacement in urban culture with their forthcoming exhibition ‘Displaced’.

Jacqueline documents inner city indigenous life focusing on transient street communities with engaging portraiture.... The response to Aboriginal people with no fixed address is not readily embraced by the community. These images encourage our questioning of the concept of home, and the effect of cultural displacement.

Conversely, Georgina who now lives in Sydney has journeyed back to the NSW country town of Coonamble where she grew up to document a very personal reflection of childhood in a rural community.....

Blanco Negro 72b Fitzroy St Surry Hills

Exhibition current from March 4th - April 1st
