Image postings and copyright
For the forums:
No images can be posted without attribution and permission.
No images can be posted that pull images off other sites - unless it is yours.
The State Library of Victoria says that if you want to use images from their site you need to lodege an application for permission first, to reproduce the image at butterpaper.com. They may waive the fee if you state that it is for non-profit purposes.
If that image is also still under copyright, copyright permission would need to be sought from the photographer. The Free Trade Agreement with the U.S. has changed the rules for copyright for the worse - it now lasts until 70 years after a photographers death. It could be hard to contact a photographer who has died but seances could be effective.
I will extend this post in the future with further information about the webite's copyright and reproduction obligations under Australian law.
Thanks.
