[Comp] Bushfire Design Challenge (RMIT DRI) 24/7
<h1>2009 Design Challenge</h1>
<p><strong>The Design Research Institute invites you to contribute your creative thinking to the urgent and topical issue of bushfire events. </strong></p>
<p>The <em>2009 Design Challenge </em>brings together researchers and specialists across a broad range of diverse sectors to generate innovative trans-disciplinary design proposals in response to:</p>
<ul class="bulleted1">
<li>fire prevention and planning;</li>
<li>emergency response and mitigation of fire impact; and</li>
<li>post-fire regeneration.</li>
</ul>
<p>Design teams will collaborate to develop proposals for presentation at the State of Design Festival <em>2009 Design Challenge Pitch</em> in July. Finalists further develop their ideas to a second stage for presentation/exhibition in November, with one team selected to receive the <em>RMIT Design Research Institute Challenge Award</em> and funding for the next stage of research and development in 2010.</p>
<p>The Design Research Institute sees this as a major opportunity to spark new working relationships between research, industry and community.</p>
