[Melb] Open House Volunteers 19/7

<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow","sans-serif";">"Melbourne Open House<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow","sans-serif";"> will take place on Sunday 19th July. It is a free event which will take place alongside the State of Design festival, and is the second of its kind in Melbourne. Last year, 8 buildings along Swanston St attracted 30,000 people to discover new buildings. This year, we have organised 30+ buildings, which are still being finalised, to be opened to the public – and we anticipate it will be even more popular than 2008.<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow","sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow","sans-serif";">Showing 30 buildings to the public requires a huge effort, and will rely on help from volunteers – roughly 250 people in total. We seek volunteers from all walks of life – not just professionals from the world of architecture, but anybody with a passion for design. Volunteers will be required to spend half a day either managing the queue on the street outside or, in the cases where the buildings themselves do not have staff present, presenting the history and architectural features of the building to the public. In return, volunteers will be able to skip the queues at other buildings for the other half of the day."
