Roadblocks, Dynamite, Demonstrations, Dongas and Donkeys
A month volunteering in Nepal with Architects without Frontiers.

"Travelling by bus from Kathmandu to the construction base camp in Bhulble, at the start of the Annapurna Circuit, the 200 odd kilometre route usually undertaken in approximately 6-8 hours, turned into 36 hour, 3-point blockade closing of the country’s national highway…

Are you ready for an unexpected adventure through the streets of Kathmandu, Bhulble, the Annapurna Circuit and Bhaktapur?"

The next AWF/Ozquest construction expedition is on in late December/January 2009.

Sod - I am sad to read your link
Clearly you are a product of the Howard years
Disenfranchised youth - who think no further than the individual
You strike me as the kind of individual who values product placement as a way into ideas

Equally, AWF needs to steer clear of the RMIT noose (yes Leon VS)
    And sponsorship logos
Benefactors are required for true acts of donation
Otherwise, the likes of Sod will soon become a Director

Architects don't have much to offer on a 'construction expedition'. Send skilled construction workers. BWF (Builders Without Frontiers) might achieve something.

AWF is usless and exploitative. An organisation portraying Architects as useful in a humanitarian crisis can only exist as a cynical marketing body, probably expending more energy on promoting itself rather than achieving any real charitable outcomes.

Serving the underprivellaged in your local soup kitchen is volunteer work your average architect could competently complete. Give it a go Info - I do!

You strike me as the type who has to jump on plane to do charitable work.
