EVENT 14 August EVOLUTION OF AGED CARE

Presenter: Patrick Ong – Principal, Thomson Adsett

"Loosing their independence through poverty or disability, the elderly used to be accommodated in boarding houses, sometimes known as poor houses. Early models of social intervention to provide care for the aging emerged in western societies after World War ll. With an aging population, progressive studies have been undertaken in the fields of social science and gerontology, greatly influencing Government policies resulting in the rapid evolution of care for this segment of society.” - Patrick Ong

Patrick Ong will present architectural approaches and provide an overview of how aged care accommodation has evolved.
