arch-peace's forum event: public transport

Dear arch-peace's Melbourne members,

At our last committee meeting, we decided on this year's forum event. The topic this year is public transport. A timely subject considering the realisation, by the part our politicians, that we are confronting a climate change and that human activity has an indisputable role in this.

Another good reason to focus on this topic is the reliance on private cars and the underdeveloped state of our transport system. According to the Australian Greenhouse Office (Household Emissions), transport is responsible for 49% of emissions as compared to 12% produced by hot water (source: http://www.ptua.org.au/).

Our plan is to have this transport forum sometime in September. We have 5 months ahead to plan and to ensure that this event is well organised and have the substance, credibility, promotion and an aspect of fun.

During our initial discussions, we came up with some preliminary proposals for key speakers and some very exciting ideas for activities during the day – there is no set program yet and we would love to hear your ideas and to have your support for this event.

Architects for Peace would like to invite our Melbourne members to be part of this forum organisation team:

The first brainstorm meeting will be held on Monday April 2, at 7pm at Building 50, Orr St

Hope you join us then,

Regards,

Beatriz C. Maturana and the arch-peace committee team
